HOLOMIC
SMART RAPID DIAGNOSTIC TEST READER ON A CELLPHONE
ATTRACTED HIGH INTEREST AT AACC ANNUAL CONFERENCE
IN LOS ANGELES, JULY 17-19, 2012

The Holomic Rapid Diagnostic Reader (HRDR) is an economical handheld reader enabling more reliable lateral flow immunoassay tests, instant access to electronic health records, and real-time, wide-area diagnostic data collection. Ideal for point-of-care, telemedicine, and public health monitoring. Read more.

Holomic LLC was formed in 2011 to commercialize advanced BioPhotonics technologies invented at the world-renowned research laboratory of Professor Aydogan Ozcan at. Among the many applications that have emerged from the lab is the cellphone-based diagnostic technology HRDR, an economical handheld reader enabling more reliable lateral flow immunoassay tests, instant access to electronic health records, and real-time, wide-area diagnostic data collection. Ideal for point-of-care, telemedicine, and public health monitoring.

Holomic’s LUCAS technology (Lensfree Ultra wide-field Cell Monitoring Array Platform based on Shadow Imaging), invented by Professor Aydogan Ozcan at UCLA and his research group, is based on a brilliant insight that light passing through translucent objects like biological samples interferes with itself and creates a hologram which can be used to mathematically reconstruct the microscopic image of the object- without any lenses. The result: an inexpensive, small, and robust portable microscope that can be used anywhere.

Holomic’s technologies will find widespread applications in:

  • Scientific Research (cytometry, high throughput imaging, rare cell search)
  • Point-of-Care Diagnostics (blood analysis, HIV monitoring)
  • Diagnostics for Global Health (sickle cell anemia, malaria)
  • Pathology Labs (hematopathology, histopathology)
  • Telemedicine and Mobile Health
  • Water Quality Testing
